MONEL® alloy K-500 (UNS N05500/ W.Nr. 2.4375) is a nickel-copper alloy which combines the excellent corrosion resistance of MONEL alloy 400 with the added advantages of greater strength and hardness. The increased properties are obtained by adding aluminum and titanium to the nickel-copper base, and by heating
under controlled conditions so that submicroscopic particles of Ni3 (Ti, Al) are precipitated throughout the matrix.
Product Introduction:
The MONEL K500, called UNS NO5500, has the same corrosion resistance as Alloy400, but with higher mechanical strength and hardness. It has good heat resistance and corrosion resistance and long-term structure stability. It is mainly used to manufacture turbine blades and gas turbine blades on aeroengines with operating temperatures below 750℃. For the manufacture of fasteners and springs on ships; Pump and valve parts on chemical equipment; Pulp blade on paper making equipment, etc.
Product features:
In addition to excellent mechanical properties such as high strength, corrosion resistance and non-magnetic properties, Monel K500 alloy also has the same corrosion resistance as Monel 400. As a pump shaft material, the alloy has no plastic-brittle transition temperature, so it is very suitable for various low-temperature equipment.
The chemical composition of the alloy is roughly the same as that of Monel 400, with the biggest difference being 2.3-3.15% AL and 0.30-1.00% TI. The microstructure of this alloy is the same as that of Monel 400 alloy except for the scattered NI3(AI.TI) precipitated phase.
Corrosion resistance:
Monelk-500 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in fluorine gas, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid and their derivatives. At the same time, it is more resistant to corrosion in seawater than copper-based alloys. Monel500 is resistant to corrosion at concentrations of less than 85% sulfuric acid. Monel k-500 is one of the few important materials that can resist hydrogen and corrosion fluoric acid.
Water Corrosion: In most cases of water corrosion, Monel500 alloy not only has excellent corrosion resistance, but also corrosion and stress corrosion are rarely found, and the corrosion rate is less than 0.025mm/a.
High temperature corrosion: The highest temperature of Monel500 in the air with continuous Resistance is generally about 600℃, and in high temperature steam, the corrosion rate is less than 0.026mm/a. Due to the high nickel content of Monel500 alloy, it can resist the corrosion of anhydrous ammonia and ammoniation conditions below 585℃.
