Monel® 401 is a ductile Nickel-Copper alloy with a very low coefficient of electrical resistivity and resistance to a wide variety of corrosive conditions. Like with commercially pure Nickel, Monel® 401 is low in strength in the annealed condition and can only be cold worked to a maximum of 120 KSI.
Monel 401, known as UNS N04401, is a nickel-copper alloy used in electronic and electrical applications. The alloy has low temperature resistivity and medium potential resistivity.
Not only that, this alloy also has the ability to weld using GTAW (tungsten arc welding) or resistance welding. Monel 401 is available in wire forms primarily for bimetallic contacts or precision resistors (wire-wound).
Similar to the commercial pure metal nickel, Monel 401 has low strength under annealing conditions and can only be processed up to 120 KSI.
