Hastelloy B/B-2 has an extremely low carbon and silicon content, which reduces the precipitation of carbon and other impurity phases in the welding heat affected zone, so that the welds also have adequate corrosion resistance.
Hastelloy B/B-2 has excellent corrosion resistance in regenerating media, such as hydrochloric acid solutions at temperature and concentration. In the medium concentration of hydrochloric acid solution (or containing a certain amount of chloride ions) also has good corrosion resistance. It can also be used in acetic and phosphoric acid environments. Alloy materials have the best corrosion resistance only when they have the appropriate metallographic state and pure crystal structure. It is widely used in the fields of chemistry, petrochemical, energy manufacturing and pollution control, especially in the industries of sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid and acetic acid
